Course Duration: 2 Years
Eligibility: 10+2 in Science
Course Highlights
Comprehensive Surgical Knowledge
The DOTT course provides a deep understanding of surgical procedures, sterilization techniques, operation theatre protocols, and patient preparation. Students learn about different types of surgeries, including orthopedic, neurosurgery, general surgery, and emergency procedures, preparing them for a variety of roles in operation theatres.
Sterilization and Infection Control
Infection control and sterilization are paramount in operation theatre environments. The course trains students on the sterilization of surgical instruments, maintaining a sterile field during surgeries, and following hygiene protocols to minimize the risk of infections.
Handling and Maintenance of Surgical Equipment
Students are trained in the use, handling, and maintenance of various surgical instruments and equipment, including surgical drapes, scalpel sets, anesthesia machines, and monitoring devices. Understanding the proper functioning and care of surgical tools ensures smooth operations during surgeries.
Assisting in Surgical Procedures
The DOTT course teaches students how to assist surgeons during operations by preparing the operating theatre, handing over instruments, maintaining the sterile environment, and monitoring patients' vital signs. Students also learn to assist in anesthesia administration and post-operative care.
Clinical Internship
Practical exposure in real-world settings is a key feature of the DOTT course. Students undergo internships in hospitals and medical centers, where they gain hands-on experience in operation theatre settings. This exposure helps them understand the dynamics of a surgical team and the critical tasks involved in surgery.
Anesthesia and Patient Monitoring
In addition to technical skills, students are trained in anesthesia techniques, patient monitoring, and assisting in pre-operative and post-operative care. This includes measuring vital signs, assisting in anesthesia preparation, and observing the patient’s recovery after surgery.
